'Payne Stewart' and
"Keep Your Head Down"®
"There were too many people on the course, so Tracy decided to watch
the tournament on TV. During the second round she noticed that Payne
was not keeping his head down when he putted.
After the round was finished she told Payne: 'You did not keep your
head down. That's why you putted so poorly.' Payne seemed surprised
and went straight to the putting practice.
The next day, Payne won the 1999 US Open Championship with
a 15 ft putt. As he approached the clubhouse to sign his card, he
spotted Tracy. With the most loving expression on his face he
stretched out his arms, cupped her head in his hands and said:
"I did it, I kept my head down. I kept my head down all day long".
